Declaring My Bold Genealogy Goals 2026: Accountability Starts Now
After a successful first year as a genealogy blogger—including selection for Robin Stewart’s GenStack Anthology—I’m declaring my bold genealogy goals for 2026 with public accountability. This year focuses on certification preparation through National Genealogical Society courses in old handwriting and transcription skills, preparing me for the Advanced Skills in Genealogy Certificate Course launching in early 2026. My research goals include solving three ancestral mysteries using the Genealogical Proof Standard: proving Sven Svensson’s parentage using DNA analysis, identifying Ellen McAuliffe’s parents in collaboration with an Australian cousin, and finally determining Clifford Max’s father for my son. I’m committing to 67+ blog posts across the #52Ancestors challenge and methodology series, while growing my blog traffic from 3,005 to 8,000 pageviews. Joining the Association of Professional Genealogists represents my commitment to professional development. Through quarterly check-ins and transparent progress tracking, I’m building advanced genealogy skills while moving from enthusiastic researcher toward professional certification.
